Summerdown Pure Mint chocolate peppermint creams are made using the rare single estate English peppermint oil, harvested and distilled on our farm. These delicious peppermint creams have a cool and creamy fondant centre, delicately enrobed in rich dark chocolate.

Summerdown Pure Mint peppermint tea is made using the same pure Black Mitcham peppermint leaf and oil. Fresh, aromatic and bright, our peppermint tea is valued for its digestive and calming properties.

English mint

At the beginning of the 20th century, England was renowned for producing the best mint in the world - the French still call peppermint menthe Anglaise, or English mint. Over the years, pressure to grow food crops and the rising cost of labour brought a decline in cultivation, leaving the US to take over the commercial production of oil.

Summerdown

During the last decade, Summerdown has reintroduced traditional Black Mitcham peppermint to this country, relearning lost mint-farming skills from America and combining them with the latest production technology at our farm in the foothills of the Hampshire downs.

Pure peppermint oil

When our mint fields have been harvested, the leaves are taken to our purpose-built distillery. The result is a rare single estate peppermint oil, with consistent quality and a soft, lingering taste. It has a cooler, more intense flavour and scent than other varieties - a property that also makes it highly-prized by aromatherapists.

A Different Taste

This is mint as your grandparents and great-grandparents would have known it - a taste that has been lost for generations. Fresh, smooth and bright, it is very different from the harsher, blended, imported peppermint of the past 60 years.

Returns & Refunds Policy: Please check your goods upon receiving them, as responsibility for them becomes the customer's upon delivery. If they are not what you ordered, please notify us within 7 days. In the unlikely event that the goods are damaged, defective or have items missing, our company policy is to replace them, but only if we are notified in writing within 7 working days of receipt. If you do wish to return goods, please ensure that they are sent using recorded or registered delivery. The costs of return postage and packaging are the customer's responsibility in accordance with distance selling regulations. Products: All products are subject to availability. If a product is going to take longer to produce than stated, we will endeavour to procure it for you as quickly as possible, but will give you the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Delivery & Dispatch: We aim to dispatch orders within a week of receipt of order, either by post or by courier service. We only deliver to mainland UK at present. For orders outside the UK please contact us by email.
Receiving Your Order: Please ensure that somebody is available to receive your parcel, unless special delivery instructions have been entered into the checkout section of the site. Any charges incurred for re-delivery will be the responsibility of the customer.
